Ah, the hand of an old friend…

I was going through all the comments on my blog, which happen to mostly be very odd and ridiculous spam, and I discovered a comment from a very old high school friend of mine. I gasped as I saw her name, realizing I don’t think I thought I would ever hear from her or see her again.

We were dearest of chums during the earlier years of high school, being googoogagah over all the boys, playing basketball for Coach Perkins, trying to start a 1950’s fad and failing miserably. Her family seemed just as crazy as my family. She was tall and slender and in my high school mind’s eye, drop dead gorgeous. She was my Annie and we had so much fun being silly together.

Here we are pretending to be a version of Anne of Green Gables and Diana Berry.

I have had a vision for a few years to gather all my old high school chums and have a little reunion. It would be so much fun to see everyone and hear their stories. Maybe when I put on pause this baby making season, I just might do that.

Here are some of the other gals I hung out with:

It’s hard to believe 15 years has gone by since high school.
Okay, now I feel old.

While I am at it…

…looking through very old pictures, that is, I stumbled across these you might enjoy. Prom, known to us Monte Vista Christian High School Alumni’s, as the Junior-Senior Banquet.

My junior year I went with Tom H. I borrowed a reeddd dress from someone and felt super sexy and pretty. I love my poofy hair; I think my mom did my hair and she was still stuck in the eighties with feathered hair and such. After the banquet, I remember going back to Hilary’s with her date and we all watched What About Bob in her parent’s living room. Real tame.

My senior year I was no longer dating Tom (which was a good thing) and didn’t have a boyfriend. So I worked up the courage to ask an older boy in our church, Sam. He had already graduated from high school. I don’t think I had a crush on him, but thought highly of him. This year, my mom made my prom dress. It was so lovely–deep green satin crafted into a stunning modern wedding gown design. I loved it. I felt elegant and lovely this year.

This year was a bit odd because my ex boyfriend, Tom, asked my sister to go with him to the prom. Oh well.
