So I was up entirely too late getting sucked into a Scholomance run with some friends in World of Warcraft. Slept hard and deep and awoke at 6:45am when I heard Audrey stirring with her awe inspiring coos and pressure being applied to my very full bladder from my 2 very large glasses of water the night before. I got up and went to get Audrey Anne and scoop her up walking like a zombie back to our bad to nestle for as long as Audrey would allow it.
And then it all of a sudden occurred to Ivan that we could go watch the sunrise. In all of our years of knowing each other, we have never seen the sun rise over Lake Michigan. He is a regular watcher giving that he has to be at work at “the crack of dawn”. And recently, Audrey and him gave mom a sleep in session and left the house together early one morning. They watched the sunrise as they walked down the pier and then headed off for a treat at Starbucks, while all along mom was snoozing.
So this morning, Ivan ran downstairs, checked the time of the sunrise on Waukegan beach and discovered that we hadn’t missed it! Quickly we put our slippers on and our big fleeces and IOWA sweatshirts and swooped out of the house. We get to the beach and walk out to the pier and just as we hit the pier, we see her yellowy gold face rise up out of the water. And instantly we were kissed by her warmness.
It was peaceful sitting there watching her rise and seeing her reflection on the still waters. Me and my little family. I felt at rest.
