Screaching.

I thought having a girl was the best thing in the world.
Until now.
The high pierced, blood curdling screaching is getting to me.
And my ear drums.
Dear lord.

Mother Styles: Using Personality Type to Discover Your Parenting Strengths by Janet P. Penley

If you are a Myers-Briggs junkie like me, you will love this book and find it super helpful. What I like about the book is that it goes into great detail about the strengths and potential weaknesses of each letter of the personality test as well as your individual type. It is very insightful especially looking at the way personality differences between children and mother collide/clash or blend/harmonize. The main premise of the book is to help mom’s balance their lives and have their tanks filled with energy and love. I really, really liked this one and will keep it on the shelf. All thanks are due to Stephanie (a local newspaper journalist) who suggested I read this book.

Sheep in a Jeep by Nancy Shaw and illustrated by Margot Apple

Hysterically funny children’s book! I loved it the first time I read it and still find a sheepish grin on my face every time I read it and get to the end…”Jeap for sale…cheap.” I discovered there is a whole series of ” silly sheep” books. I must get my hands on them through the library.

Lastly,

The Beauty of Spiritual Language: Unveiling the Mystery of Speaking in Tongues by Jack Hayford

I stumbled on this book in college and lent it to someone and never saw it again. I have *randomly* been thinking about it lately and discovered it on Amazon. And the next week, Steve Nic gave a sermon on the story of Pentecost and fleshed out the whole “speaking in tongues” thing some of us Christians are into and I thought it was such a koinkidink I got the book and heard that sermon in the same week. Anywho, he dispels some of the weirdness about speaking in tongues and has a good Biblical viewpoint on it. I enjoy his writing; very easy to read and understand and even relate to.

Any other book recommendations for the summer?

You are not going to believe this!

Last year at Sam’s Club I discovered a good size wisteria bush on sale for $5!! Yes, it is true. $5. I came home and found a home for it and have tended to it and this late spring the purple cascading blooms are coming! I can’t described to you how surprised I was by their debut. I was going to let them grow up and over a large trelis but have decided (I think) to let them wind and weave there sturdy vine through the chain link fence there along the pathway. How wonderful!

Curly-Q

One of my favorite things about Ivan is his wonderful grey speckled curls. Most of the time you all see his fro, untamed crazy Ivan hair. But occasionally he puts product in it and the curls are abundant.

I captured this one and declared it “my favorite curl”.
